WHO IS MAN?
Gen 1.26 And God said, let us make man in our image, after our likeness and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and all over the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. (KJV)
The beginning of man, totally begins as part of God’s creation. From the scripture above, man is originally an image of God the Father, Christ the Son and the Holy Spirit. An image is a reflection of the main object. However, in our times today, we are not anywhere close to being the reflection of the object (God in His trinity).
While missing out on every possible chance of being Christ from Adam, the prophets, judges, priests, and also minor prophets, man is yet to be what God had in mind. For this reason, God sent in the second man, Jesu Christ. How then did Jesus manage to win a life that from the first man, Adam until His (Jesus) coming no one managed to not fail?
Man is a Spirit and he gets this as the image. When God mentions in Gen 1.26, Let us make man in our image, God is bent on this image, a spirit. In addition to this, while speaking to Jeremiah, (Jeremiah 1.5), God mentions that He knew Jeremiah before he was formed in his mother’s womb.
This goes for every man on earth, believer or non- believer, we are Spirits. In line with this definition, Jesus managed to win the life of the earth by becoming man on earth. The Bible records that He left all His crown ship, His godlike character and came on earth as man. This simple understanding, made sure that Jesus succeeded in His life on earth.
Jesus knew His origin, He understood how His body works, His Soul, and He knew that He is not of the world. While being on earth, man is esteemed to know just this one truth. However, while being born from our mother’s wombs we miss out on laying on this truth. Immediately we are born, we want to fit in with our parents’ lineage, our world culture, and whatever comes up.
We continuously assume the very true and right lineage, culture, character, and behavior to fit in a copy of what looks like the truth but is not. In the end, we miss out on very many experiences, we enter in wrong purposes, we follow the wrong route and end up unsatisfied with what we have.
Laying hold of this simple truth, MAN IS A SPIRIT, opens up a lot than we can imagine.
And the LORD God formed man [of] the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul. Genesis 2.7 (KJV)
“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations.” Jeremiah 1.5 (NIV)
